Switzerland – our homeland

Home

Our ancestry traces back to the village of Zunzgen, located in the District of Sissach and in the Canton of Baselland.   Our ancestors attended church in the nearby village of Tenniken.  The old family records of the Tenniken church as well as the civil records are now archived in the Staatsarchiv in Liestal, the capitol of Baselland.  If you wish to research your Swiss family history, here is an excellent link for many leads.

We have relatives living in Zunzgen, and other nearby towns, and in the city of Basel.  If you wish to correspond or talk with them, use the Comment Form (return to home page and click on Comments) to request a means of contacting them.

Mary Scholer married Alonzo Hilfiker.  Alonzo’s father was born in Switzerland, thus the Hilfiker/Scholer branch has two Swiss “ties.”  Everett Hilfiker visited Switzerland in 1983 and researched the Hilfiker “roots.”
